Yo yoyoyo Funkateers!

I’m M.Lou the girl with the ‘fro and bringing you the latest news in land of WtU!

Thanks to Jay we have this amazing video of Pow! Make A Move…a song that had it’s debut on the 3rd Degree Festival at LIPA on 7th April 2011.

Watch it and be amazed! POW! Performing are Phil Dolan on the human beat box machine, me on the baritone saxophone and our dear friends who may already know of ‘Type of Mood I’m In’, J Taylor and Joshy Slimfast, or how WtU likes to call them ‘The Hemptations’

We also got a live audio recording of the whole show that night. If you are a member on our mailing list then you will receive a secret to download and listen the live recording of ‘Paradise’. POW! Get on it!

Oh yeah as we mentioned in our newsletter before…we went to the study to get ‘Wastelife’ on a record. We are still in the mixing process…what I can remember from the latest listen to the mix it’s going to sound mental ;) If anyone really dies to hear one of the early instrumental mix downs…please twitter us @WtU and tell us why you must hear it! Deal? ;)

Here a few pictures of the BlowBack Wastelife sessions:

@WtU: What microphone did we end using for everyone???????????????????????????

Boring Fun-Fact: On the pictures you can see we’re testing quite a few ones out…but everyone of us was using the same mic at the end…hm…yeah however…*snare-roll* Now to the super exciting stuff and probably why you came to see this post!

Our Saturday-Sunday Adventure in Wales…POW! See there we had a gig:

What..you didn’t know about a WtU gig Wales? Right, the reason why is because this gig was a wedding gig, a great couple booked us to play 2 Sets at their Wedding! 1 WtU and 1 filled with covers! How amazing :D WOO!! WtU enjoyed that place, the free food and the people to party with! Even though, it was a mission to get our equipment down there….However if you wanna see more of Wales and know more about WtU’s camping adventure…Please Click  <<YES>> Link is under construction will be enabled in a bit!

A WtU week in Feb!

Picture Taken by Andrew Ab Photography at the Treshold Festival – Pigeon Tent, Level 5

Sunday 13th Feb: Wtu perform at the  The Threshold Festival 2011

The Threshold Festival 2011 took place in over five levels and a shit loads of rooms at the Contemporary Urban Centre in Liverpool. To describe the Threshold Festival in 10 words:

Huge, Fun, Adventurous,  Secret, Bands, Photo, Party, Chilled, Arty, Theatre and … Music.

We the Undersigned played on the last night of the festival, and our performance featured special guest MCs Jay and Josh, perorming ‘Just the Type of Mood I’m In” with us! Boss work guys!

We also had a band photo shoot before the performance with our lovely and amazing photographer Andrew Ab! Shots were taken in: the Mezzanine, pigeon tent (Shubone tried to eat a pigeon in there) :S  and the secret room. Photos coming soon. POW!

My personal highlights of the Festival were Stealing Sheep, Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six, Constructors Collective, R&R feat Fluteman and The Elementals. And not to forget the Kevin Critchley Orchestra, who played on the Sunday.

Did I already mention that Kevin Critchley is playing at the WtU EP Launch Party as main support? Click here for more info.

15th Feb: EP Guitar Overdubs – Finished!

Jesus Chris completed some amaz guitar overdubs and solos in the studio, adding a little extra depth to some of the tracks on our imminent EP. More info. After the session, Chris commented: “The guitar overdubs were pretty speedy – heaviness added to No Hope and some ethereal noises laced into False Flag.”Collen also tweeted direct from the studio with exciting news regarding “ominous digital guitars” and Eduardo using tape delays “like Lee Scratch Perry”! The new tracks are clearly to sound pretty funkin’ epic! So make sure you grab your copy of the EP when it’s released on March 10th 2011. POW!!

17th Feb: Recording Session with the Blowback Horns on No One Left To Kiss

More overdub work and extra flourishes for the EP!  Blowback Horns sweetend up No One Left to Kiss!! POW

19th and 20th Feb: Positive Actions!

Collen and Mook took positive actions to protest the cuts to public services – cuts that would be unnecessary if corporations didn’t employ such massive tax avoidance policies.  Our WtU representatives joined forces on Sunday with UKUncut Liverpool and The Love Police, as well as a score of other groups and individual hoomans, to peacefully (and humourously!) close down both of Liverpool’s Vodaphone branches, as well as Topshop! MofotheMook tweets: “So the lucky staff at Vodaphone and Topshop in Liverpool got an early dart today. No thanks necessary guys.”  (Note: This is written by the Mook)
You might recognize the song in the first video ;)

22nd Feb: EP Tracking DONE!

Final recording issues solved on 15 Days and 20 hours before the EP Launch PARTY!! WOOO!!! Joe showed his balls (metaphorically) in his solo for No Hope!! That’s why we call him Sick-as-Joe!! And I got a listen to False Flag and have to say zweet Jesus that song’s gone SICK in a GREAT way! We need to get some pedals to get that sound on stage guys!!
Lots of Love and read ya spoon Malou the Afro Head xx
